Mr Carsten Gerards 

Carsten Gerards co-teaches the course The Institutional Architecture of the EU (with Prof. Wolfgang Wessels) and is also in charge of the course Fundamentals of Scientific Work in the first study year of the Executive Master in EU Studies.

Having studied social sciences, philosophy and mathematics in Cologne and Warwick, Carsten Gerards also holds a M.A. in European Interdisciplinary Studies from the College of Europe in Natolin. Currently working as Academic Assistant in Bruges, he previously gained teaching experience as tutor/lecturer of European Politics at the University of Cologne and as seminar facilitator for the Schwarzkopf Foundation. Between 2011-2014 he worked as student assistant in the research group “Institution Building Across Borders” at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies (and later at the University Duisburg-Essen).

His main field of interest are education policy on the European level and the EU as a global actor.
