FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost?

The participation fee is 3.000 euro.
This amount covers the educational and technical support, the use of the special internet workspace and board and lodging during all workshops. Travel costs shall be paid by the participants.

Where and how can I apply?

The academic year 2007/2008 will start on 15 October 2007. If you are interested in taking part in the EOA 2007/2008, please apply via our online application form and keep in mind that the application deadline is 15 September 2007 (early bird application until 15 July 2007).

When is the next deadline for application?

The application deadline for the academic year 2007/2008 is 15 September 2007.

Are there any preconditions for admission? What is the selection procedure?

You have to have a general background in EU affairs and a university degree (B.A. level).
You have to pay the participation fee.

What are the conditions and requirements for obtaining the certificate?

How many courses must I take to be eligible for the diploma?

Three courses in the first and two courses in the second and third trimester. At least 7 courses in total.

Does CIFE offer any scholarships?

A limited number of scholarships of 600 euro, 1.200 euro and 1.800 euro is available to reduce the financial burden of the course fees. The amount granted will depend on the individual student's financial situation.

What are the eligibility criteria for a scholarship?

Applicants shall demonstrate that they have the potential to achieve and to benefit from engaging in the European Online Academy.

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial need.

Applicants who gain the required standard of academic qualifications will be asked to complete and sign an electronic form, declaring their eligibility for a scholarship. Evidence of eligibility will be required at registration.

How long is the academic year?

The academic year starts on 15 October 2007 and ends on 29 June 2008.

What does "early bird" mean?

According to the idiom "the early bird catches the worm" we offer a 10% reduction of the course fee (3.000 €) for those who apply before 15 July 2007.

Which institution is issuing the certificate?

The European Online Academy is organised with the financial support of the European Commission. The certificate itself is issued by CIFE and signed by the Director General of CIFE and by Jean-Monnet-Professor W. Wessels from the University of Cologne.

Do you work with ECTS-points?

24 ECTS*-credits are awarded for the successful completion of the academic year; participants can collect up to 36 ECTS-credits by choosing additional courses. for details please read the ECTS information.
