Dr. Mattias Wendel European Law Ingolf Pernice Berlin

Dr. Mattias Wendel is senior research fellow and lecturer at the Walter-Hallstein-Institute for European Constitutional Law, Humboldt University Berlin. He received his doctorate in 2010 at Humboldt University with a comparative work on integration clauses at state and Union level for which he was awarded the Doctoral Thesis Price of the Faculty of Law. He is author of several articles and contributions in the field of EU law, constitutional law and comparative law and a member of the editorial board of the Cahiers de droit européen.

Wendel holds a Maîtrise en droit of the University Paris 1 – Panthéon/Sorbonne (Master’s degree) and passed the First State Examination (Master’s degree) and the Second State Examination (Bar exam) in the Federal State of Berlin, all with distinction. He spent six months as a visiting scholar at the Institute of European and Comparative Law, University of Oxford. During his studies and his doctorate he was granted a scholarship by the German National Academic Foundation. As a law clerk Wendel worked in the Federal Ministry of Economics (Representation of the Federal Republic of Germany before the European Courts) and for the Legal Service of the European Commission (Team Institutions).
