Rome Weekend Workshop

Weekend Workshop in Rome: 19-21 January 2024

We were very pleased to meet our students in Rome this weekend!

Christmas time has passed and we started the new year with the second workshop of the Executive Master Studies in the beautiful city of Rome from 19 to 21 January 2024.

14 of our 22 students met in sunny Rome and began with a visit to the Italian Parliament to meet The Honourable Giulia Pastorella. After a highly interesting presentation, a discussion on the functioning of the Italian Parliament and Italy's European policy, and a guided tour through the Italian Parliament, François Bafoil introduced the course “Political Economy of Energy Transitions”. Eleonora Poli, CEP Roma, closed the day dealing with the topic on “The Threat of Digital Populism”.

Well-energised, we kicked off the second day with an introduction to the course “European Law II – Internal Market” by Edgar Lenski, who demonstrated that EU Law can be quite practical. In the afternoon, the students engaged in lively discussions guided by Robert Kissack, who presented the course “The EU in World Politics”. After all this input, we took a long stroll through the historical city of Rome to head to Flavio del Velavevodetto – a restaurant that serves typical Roman cucina. A challenge to pronounce but a treat for gourmets!

The workshop was finished off by Jacques le Cacheux, introducing “The Economic Dimension of EU Integration”, and a brief feedback round.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in this insightful workshop and are grateful for the inspiring and important inputs that touched upon a broad range of topics.

With fond memories of Rome, we eagerly anticipate the next destination of our academic journey – Budapest in April!
