Dr. des. Mechthild Baumann

Mechthild Baumann has joined the team of the Centre International de Formation Européenne (CIFE) as project manager in April 2006.

She completed her studies in political science by gaining a French-German MA (Diplom) at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris in 2000 and a German MA (Diplom) at the Otto-Suhr-Institut/ Free University of Berlin in 2001.

She worked as visiting lecturer at the Free University between 2002 and 2004, at the university in Zittau/ Goerlitz between 2004 and 2005 and at the University of Potsdam in 2006. She has been working at the European Academy Berlin as a free lance scholar since late 2000.

In autumn 2005 she completed her PhD on the Europeanisation of external border management in Germany. During her post-graduate time she was member of the Berlin Graduate School of Social Sciences (Humboldt University of Berlin), and was financially supported by the German National Academic Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes).
